  1. Hello my name is Gabriel Roldan I’m a student at Vista High School and we are doing a project on photographers we are interested in and I really like your work. If you don’t mind I have a few questions that I’ve been wanting to ask. How long have you been a professional photographer? What type of education/training did you get/need? What do you think is the most rewarding part of your job? What was or is your dream photo job? Do you ever hire interns? Do you have any advice for an aspiring photographer? Thank you.

    1. Hi Gabriel,
My apologies for the lack of response. I don’t visit and maintain my site as often as I should. Below are the answers to your questions.
I’ve been a professional for 3 years. I took two black and white film photography classes when I first attended Junior college in 2004. In hindsight I wish I had stuck with taking classes however photography wasn’t remotely on my radar as a career choice. The most rewarding part of my job isn’t necessarily when other people like my photos. It’s when I’m satisfied with my photos. When I can stand back and go “yea that’s awesome” that is when I am the most excited about what I do. To be honest my current position is about as close to my dream job as you can get. I am paid to do nothing but creative photography with the best luxury car brands on the market. I don’t hire anyone because I don’t need assistance. All my photography is done with natural light so there is no need for anyone to hold or move lights. My best advice is to keep shooting and really pay attention to what you’re doing before pulling the trigger. All too often I see a young photographer walk up and just snap a quick photo. No thought of composition, lighting, ect. Just shooting blind. Also, learn to take full control of your camera. I shoot manual everything including focus. If you have any other questions I’m more than happy to help. Please send any more correspondence to my direct email grubbsphoto@gmail.com that way I can respond much quicker. Cheers!
